     Joan Berkeley was born circa 1507 at of Thornbury, Gloucestershire, England.1 She married Sir Nicholas Poyntz, Sheriff of Gloucestershire, Admiral of the Western Seas, Burgess of Cricklade, son of Sir Anthony Poyntz, Sheriff of Gloucestershire and Elizabeth Huddersfield, on 24 June 1527 at Yate, Gloucestershire, England; They had 6 sons (Sir Nicholas; Francis; Anthony; Edmund; John; & William) and 3 daughters (Anne, wife of Sir John Heneage; Jane/Joan, wife of Sir John Seymour; and Frances, wife of Sir John Berkeley).1,2,3,4,5 Joan Berkeley died on 31 March 1563; She married (2) Sir Thomas Dyer, Burgess of Bridgwater, Sheriff of Dorset & Somersetshire, son of Alexander Dyer. They had 3 sons (unnamed). He died at Weston, Somerset on 14 June 1565.1,3,5
