     Lothair II, King of Lorraine was born circa 835.2 He married Teutberga von Arles, daughter of Boso III "the Old", Count of Turin & Valois and Engeltrude, circa 855; This marriage was childless.2 Lothair II, King of Lorraine and Teutberga von Arles were divorced before 25 December 862. Lothair II, King of Lorraine married Valtruda of Saxony on 25 December 862; The Archbishops of Cologne & Trier declared Lothair's 1st marriage annulled in October 862. However, Pope Nicholas reversed their decision. When the Pope died in 867, Lothair renewed his appeal to be rid of his 1st wife. Pope Adrian II agreed to review the matter, but Lothair had died by then. Meanwhile, Lothair had been living with Waldrada for many years and had fathered all his children through her. They had 1 son (Hugues, Duke of Alsace) & 3 daughters (Gisele, wife of Godefrid, Danish King, Duke in Friesland; Bertha, wife of Thibaud, Comte d'Arles, & of Adalberto II, Margrave of Tuscany; & Ermengarde, a nun).2 Lothair II, King of Lorraine died on 8 August 869 at Piacenza, Emilia-Romagna, Italy; Buried in the church of San Antonio the Martyr, Piacenza.2

     Valtruda of Saxony Related to Hugh le Mefiant & Count Eberhard of Alsace.1 She Belonged to the Alsacian family of the Etichonides. She married Lothair II, King of Lorraine, son of Lothair I, King of Italy & Bavaria, Emperor of the West and Ermengarde of Tours, on 25 December 862; The Archbishops of Cologne & Trier declared Lothair's 1st marriage annulled in October 862.
