He married Petronelle de Joigny, daughter of Gaucher II de Joigny, Seigneur de Chateau-Renaud, Seneschal of Nivernais and Amicie de Montfort, in June 1249.2,3,4 Pierre I de Courtenay, Seigneur de Conches, Courtenay, Mehun-sur-Yèvre, & Selles died on 8 February 1250 at Mansourah, Egypt; Killed in battle.2
